    what about MonoGame?

XNA framework, except with OpenGL instead of DirectX.

I also see Shawn Hargreaves has been involved in porting XNA to C++ and DirectX 11.

I spent a lot of time on XNA but never had the time, now I do I return to find it deprecated… just my luck!

    All the best, regardless…

    * sorry, I meant “I spent a lot of time learning XNA but never had the time to actually develop something”

I have thought about that before moving to Unity3D….

Staying with MonoDevelop was an option, but without Microsoft leading XNA anymore I did not saw that as a clear path.

Also as I am trying to learn some know-how about video games development in order to get inside the industry Unity is more used nowadays.

BTW, as MonoDevelop is the main editor for Unity / C# I had to used for a while and honestly is far far far away from MS Visual Studio.

But thanks for the comment, at the end is about what you like the most, or what you would like to learn new 🙂
